WE SHOULD STAND FOR THE BETTER OF OUR NATION

Joke or no Joke: Mallam El-Rufai has virtually brought ignominy to the Islam and humanity as a whole after he deliberately accused Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene of having Sexual intercourse during their ministry movement here on earth. This's very pathetic and he should be charge with recklessness and negligent misstatement against the Son of God. And this's regard as Blasphemous libel under the common law which exposes the Christian religion to scurrility, vilification, ridicule and contempt as his tweet has the tendency to shock and outrage the feelings of Christians across the nation.

I think El-Rufai has lost his sanity over the past few years, and the last Sunday unsubstantiated allegation is potent enough to prove this, and he need a psychiatric test apparently to ascertain his mental abnormality. That tweet is nothing but an impiousness & gross irreverence towards the Son of God with intent to incite sectarian violence between Christians and the Islams considering the serials of religious crisis occurred previously in the Northern cities of Nigeria which claimed thousands of lives. A country confront with such magnitude religions crisis doesn't need a blasphemous joke of that kind..

The men were murdered in front of their wives in the compound the three couples shared in the town of Potiskum, 300 miles northeast of Abuja, the capital.

The state police commissioner confirmed the killing but refused to speculate on whether they were linked to Boko Haram, the al-Qaeda-allied sect that is terrorising northern Nigeria in a bid to rule it under strict Islamic law.

The group is believed to have ordered the targeted shooting on Friday of nine health workers in Kano.

The doctors were said to have been on contract to the Yobe state health ministry and had lived in Potiskum for close to a year, according to residents.

There was no official confirmation whether the men were from North Korea or South Korea. Officials in Seoul said they understood very few South Koreans were in the area.

The attack, in the early hours of yesterday morning, was the latest in a spate of killings of foreigners, especially Chinese nationals, in the country's restive northeast.

In November, gunmen shot dead two Chinese construction workers in nearby Borno State, the stronghold of the Boko Haram extremists.

Three other Chinese nationals have also been killed in separate attacks in the region.

"It could well just be a burglary that went wrong, but the fact that they beheaded one of them points to someone who wants to make a point," one Western diplomat in Abuja said.

It was "entirely possible", he said, that Boko Haram had made a decision to begin targeting soft targets. The group is usually behind shootings and bombings of Christian places of worship and police and army compounds.

Hundreds of people ran to try to collect petrol spilling out of the overturned lorry but within minutes a spark or a dropped cigarette butt caused a sudden blast which trapped many people in an horrific fire.

Worst affected were motorbike taxi drivers who were trying to scoop the spilt fuel into their own tanks, which then also exploded when the fire started.

It is the latest in a series of similar infernos in Nigeria, and across Africa, and illustrates the lack of safety education for poor rural people who do not fully understand the risks.

The tanker swerved to avoid three oncoming vehicles on a road in the southern Rivers State, one of Nigeria's main oil-producing provinces.

It slid down an embankment and came to rest with no fire but with the contents of its trailer spilling freely to the floor.

A passing army unit stopped to try to keep onlookers at bay and warn them of the dangers, but they were overwhelmed, eyewitnesses said.

"Some troops who reached the crash site before the fire broke out told people to clear off, but many ignored the warning," said an official from the National Emergency Management Agency.

Forces from the military's Joint Task Force "got to the scene before us. They warned people to leave the scene to avoid disaster. But many of them were busy scooping fuel. They disobeyed," Emenike Umesi said.

In March, a petrol tanker caught fire after skidding off the road further south in Nigeria, killing six people and injuring several others.

And April last year, a fuel tanker overturned at an army checkpoint the country's centre, sparking an inferno in which some 50 people were killed.

More than 100 people died in one similar incident in Kenya in 2011, and 50 more were killed in a tanker explosion in Kenya in 2009.
